What is the difference between a CM400A, CM400C, CM400E & CM400T?

The CM400/450 comes in four standard models:


CM400A - The Hondamatic

  • Automatic transmission
  • Single caliper front disk brake
  • Comstar wheels
  • Tachometer
  • Standard forks, no drain plug
  • Standard style seat


CM400C - The Custom

  • Standard transmission
  • Dual caliper front disk brake
  • Comstar wheels
  • Tachometer
  • Air assisted forks with drain plug
  • Standard or custom quilted style seat


CM400E - The Economy

  • Standard transmission
  • Drum brakes
  • Spoked wheels
  • No tachometer
  • Standard forks, no drain plug
  • Standard seat


CM400T - The Twin / Touring

  • Standard transmission
  • Single caliper front disk brake
  • Comstar wheels
  • Tachometer
  • Standard forks, no drain plug
  • Standard style seat

  2. CM400A, Tachometer wasn't one, it was a gear indicator for which gear you were in, N, 1, 2. And it was not automatic transmission, it was "automatic" clutch, you still shifted.
